Safe Connections Act Customer Notice
As a mobile voice provider, NNTC Wireless, LLC complies with the Safe Connections Act line separation requirements, which allows abuse survivors to separate a jointly held mobile phone account from their abuser. The FCC defines a “survivor” as either someone over 18 years-old who is the victim of abuse or alleged abuse or someone who cares for a victim of abuse, which encompasses parents, guardians, and caregivers of minors and others who are not legally responsible for themselves. To validate their status, survivors must complete a line separation request and submit it to their mobile service provider. The line separation request includes seven elements:
- Statement that the survivor is requesting relief under section 345 of the Communications Act and FCC rules;
- Identification of each line that should be separated using the phone number associated with each line;
- Identification of which line/s belong to the survivor and a statement that the survivor is the user of those lines;
- An affidavit stating that the individual is in the care of the survivor, when a survivor is seeking separation of the line/s of any individual under the survivor’s care;
- A statement that the abuser is the user of a specific line, when a survivor is seeking separation of the abuser’s line;
- Documentation that verifies that an individual who uses a shared mobile contract has committed or allegedly committed a covered act against the survivor or an individual in the survivor’s care;
- The name of the survivor and the name of the abuser.
Upon the receipt of a valid line separation request, NNTC Wireless, LLC will execute the line separation within two business days. Survivors are allowed to indicate their service choices from all commercially available plans that the provider offers, and the survivor will be given the option of retaining and taking financial responsibility for their current device upon line separation.
